ERD Sunday: NetsforLife & Thursdays@Bruton Program

Did you know that a child in sub-Sahara Africa dies from malaria every 45 seconds and that malaria kills nearly 1 million people worldwide annually ... and that Bruton Parish can do something about it?  February 26th is the First Sunday of Lent.  It is also designated ERD Sunday by our National Church.  Join us on that day at 10:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall between the services to hear a brief presentation (with coffee, etc.) about our parish's upcoming program to understand the work of ERD to eliminate the scourge of malaria throughout the world and in particular in Africa.

The full ERD Lenten Program will take place on three consecutive Thursday evenings (March 1, 8, 15) at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall.  We will discuss: 1) the disease of malaria, 2) malaria's impact on developing countries, 3) what the Episcopal Church (aka “we”) can do about concretely helping to solve the problem.  Mark all four dates down as part of your Lenten discipline.

Insecticide-treated nets (with training and follow-up) cost only $12 ... that's three mocha lattes at your favorite coffee house, and will very likely save the lives of three children or adults.  Bruton's goal is to fund 1000 nets and thus save 3000 lives.  What a way to "spend" Lent!
