Continuing a tradition begun by our 18th-century organist, Peter Pelham, Bruton Parish presents more than 120 recitals and concert programs annually in its Candlelight Concert series. Instrumental and choral groups from all over the United States and other countries perform in our historic church, interspersed with organ and harpsichord recitals by our own talented musicians. All guest musicians are approved by our staff and perform gratis. Contact Rebecca Davy via email if you are interested in being a part of this series. Concerts are held at 8:00 p.m. every Saturday throughout the year and on most Tuesdays and Thursdays from March through December. There is no ticket charge for the concerts, but a freewill offering is received at each program to ensure the continuance of this ministry.
Parking is permitted on the Duke of Gloucester Street during worship services and concerts.
Historical Organ Recitals at the Wren Chapel
Bruton Parish’s Music Director, Rebecca Davy, oversees a series of weekly concerts on the historic 18th-century organ in the Christopher Wren Chapel. These half-hour concerts are held each Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel on the campus of The College of William and Mary. Please the links above for the upcoming schedule of Candlelight Concerts at Bruton Parish Church and Historical Organ Recitals at the Christopher Wren Chapel.
Concert ushers help to make the Candlelight Concert ministry possible. They prepare the church for concerts and greet both guest musicians and audience members, and head ushers additionally provide a short history of the church while a freewill offering is received. Volunteers are always needed to help in this unique outreach. Contact the coordinator, Les Hoffman (email), if you are interested in serving.
