Students Serving

Parents and Students Serving Together

What is PASSTA and Where Do I Fit In?

PASSTA stands for Parents and Students Serving Together Association.  The PASSTA program is what make school lunches and game concessions available.  It also helps the senior class pay for a portion of their senior trip.

We ask parents and students to participate in helping with PASSTA as a way to gain PASSTA credit for the senior trip.  This is done in the following manner:

  • The junior class and their parents are responsible for all game concessions.
  • The junior class is responsible for baked goods for lunch during the second semester of their junior year
  • The senior class is responsible for baked goods for lunch during the first semester of their senior year
  • Parents are required to work in the lunch program one year per student.  (This does not include working concessions for the junior year.)  Parents may fulfill the year of service anytime between kindergarten and 11th grade.

Based on participation by students and parents, and meeting the above mentioned obligations, credit is extended to each student for their class trip.  Full participation typically contributes between 45 – 50% of the cost of the senior trip and class gift.

Since a major need fulfilled by PASSTA is preparation of lunches for school, it is important that volunteers physically serve in the kitchen during the school day.  Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday each week from approximately 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. to help serve preschool, elementary, and high school lunches.  We do, however, recognize that some parents are not available during the day due to work obligations.  There are a few other areas of service that do not involve being physically in the kitchen.  If your situation requires you serve in one of these areas instead, we will work with you as best we can.  However, the bulk of the help required is with parents physically helping during the day.

Please look at the attached list, indicate where you desire to serve, and return it to the school office as soon as possible.  Keep in mind that we do serve lunch the first day of the new school year and typically have a home game on the very first day of school, so we need time to get everything organized before school starts.  Someone will contact you concerning your choice and schedule.

If you have any questions regarding the PASSTA program, please feel free to contact the school office at 215-368-4444 Ext. 142 or by e-mail at chunsberger@cbs.edu.
