Music at Christ Church

Christ Church has a rich tradition of excellent music, enhancing the experience of worship for all who grace our doors.  After a very long hiatus of closed doors for 18 months due to the world-wide corona virus pandemic, it is with great joy that we may once again profess our Christian faith through congregational and choral singing.  Our graded choir program offers abundant opportunities for students in grades K-12 and for adults who are musically inclined. This year we celebrate the 10th season of Music at Christ Church Andover featuring our choirs and soloists, two FISK organs, a Steinway grand piano, and guest artists.

Be joyful in the Lord, all you lands; serve the Lord with gladness
and come before his presence with a song. (Psalm 100:1)

Angel Choir
Kindergarten - 2nd Grade
The children build a music foundation through singing and playing musical games.  Rehearsals are on Thursday afternoons from 4:00-4:45 pm. The children sing at the Christmas Eve and Easter services and occasionally at the 10 am service.

St. Cecilia Choristers
Grades 3 - 8
Any boy or girl with an unchanged voice is welcome! This is a wonderful opportunity for children not only to gain a knowledge and love of music but also to develop their self-esteem and confidence.  Rehearsals are Thursday afternoons from 4:30-5:30 pm. A variety of music including psalms and hymns from the Anglican tradition as well as spirituals, jazz, classical, and newly commissioned works are learned.  The choristers sing monthly at the 10:00 am service and also at Lessons & Carols, Christmas Eve, Palm Sunday, Easter, Pentecost and special services, festivals and concerts with choristers from other churches.

Grades 6 - 8
This is a select group of experienced young singers with unchanged voices. Rehearsals are on Thursday afternoons from 5:30-6:30. Sacred music from the Renaissance to contemporary genres are prepared for Sunday morning worship services, Lessons & Carols, Christmas Eve, Palm Sunday, Easter, Pentecost, choral evensongs, and choir festivals.

Parish Choir
Adults and High School Singers

Volunteer adults of all ages and experienced high school singers rehearse Thursday evenings from 7:30-9:00 p.m.  The Parish Choir sings at all 10:00 am services and many special evening services from September through mid-June.  In addition, the choir has frequent collaborations with other local choirs for services, concerts, and choral evensongs.  Newly commissioned works, the standard Anglican repertoire, and large choral works with orchestral accompaniment give singers a wide variety of challenging music to learn and to ultimately express our Christian faith, giving glory to God.

Bell Choir
Adults and High School Students

A minimum of eight ringers are needed to form a bell choir.  Rehearsals are on Tuesday afternoons from 5:30-6:30 pm beginning date TBD.
