Music is an integral part of our worship at the Church of the Good Shepherd. The Hymnal 1982 is the source of most of our community singing, richly enhanced by selections from Wonder, Love, and Praise (a supplement to the Hymnal 1982); Lift Every Voice and Sing (an African-American hymnal); and music from other communities, other cultures, and popular religious songs.

Our music program includes vocal, instrumental, and handbell choirs. Those in the youth choirs develop music reading skills and learn liturgy, theology, and hymnody. Adults may improve their music skills and increase their repertoire of hymns, anthems, and great choral works.Instrumentalists expand technical skills, learn a wide variety of music, and experience the gratification that comes with playing in an ensemble.

Good Shepherd is embarking on an exciting renovation process that will give us an "Organ for the New Century." Our organ, installed in 1979, is being renovated and upgraded by the A.E. Schlueter Pipe Organ Company, thanks to the generosity of the congregation in support of the organ campaign. The renovated three-manual, 25-rank pipe organ will be reinstalled in Spring 2012. It will include a completely new console, and a relay system featuring memory, MIDI, and recording and transposing capabilities. Click here for details of the new organ.
