Carolinas Hosptial System Wins Top Triad of the Award
Thursday, May 05, 2005

Carolinas Hospital System recently won the “Triad Hospital of the Year Award” for the third consecutive year. This year, the hospital was honored with the silver award.

The award is a Waterford crystal bowl and includes a significant monetary gift, which must be used to improve healthcare in our community.  The award gifts for the three years total over half a million dollars in capital investment above and beyond other planned projects. Carolinas Hospital System’s Board of Trustees has determined the funds will be used to establish a conference center on the hospital grounds that will serve community need.

One of the largest facilities among the 53 in the Triad network with 372 beds, Carolinas Hospital System was presented the honor based on evaluations and other criteria including service to the community and sound financial operations.

The most important part of the performance evaluations is based on three satisfaction surveys: patients, physicians and employees. The surveys are conducted by top-rated national opinion research organizations such as Gallup.

CEO Jim O’Loughlin said, “These awards belong to our outstanding employees, physicians and volunteers who deliver exceptional and compassionate care to our patients and visitors, day in and day out, as we strive to exemplify the ‘Carolinas difference.’ We would also like to thank our wonderful community for its tremendous support which has enabled us to grow as a leading medical center dedicated to offering the latest medical advancements and technology and improving the overall quality of life for our residents.”

Triad Hospitals, Inc. is one of the largest publicly owned hospital companies in the United States and provides health care services through hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers that it owns and operates in small cities and selected urban markets primarily in the southern, midwestern and western United States.  Triad’s hospital facilities currently include 53 general acute care hospitals and 6 ambulatory surgery centers located in the states of Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas and West Virginia.
