Apprentice Faith Shops
The Apprentice Faith Shops Sunday School at First Baptist Church offers children (Kindergarten - Grade 5) the opportunity to learn in a setting designed for involvement, discovery, and creativity. This format is known as the rotation model for Sunday School. Each week children rotate from room to room and experience the stories of our faith.
Children’s Church
Children attending worship at the 11:00 service are invited to go with leaders, following the children’s sermon, to a special time of worship and education designed to meet their needs.
Acolytes
Children Grades 2 - 5 serve as worship leaders at 11:00 by lighting the candles and bringing in the scripture.
Preschool Sunday School
Our preschool children are cared for and taught about the love God has for them by our adult leaders. Age appropriate activities, Bible stories, and play are provided for our preschool children each week. Click here to learn more oabout our preschool ministry.
Extended Session
The learning and child care time is extended through the 11:00 hour of worship for our children age 4 and under. Volunteers serve each week in this ministry with our preschoolers.
Children’s Choirs
BUSY BEE 3’S: Focuses on learning about God through beginning musical experiences with music in the areas of singing, moving, listening, and the playing of instruments.
BROWNIE BEARS 4’S AND 5’S: Focuses on learning about God through beginning musical experiences with music in the areas of singing, moving, listening, and the playing of instruments. Sings in worship several times during the year.
MUSIC MAKERS-GRADES 1 AND 2: Focuses on learning about God through the development of the child’s singing voice, beginning music reading skills, moving, and the playing of instruments. Provides worship leadership by singing several times during the choir year.
JOYFUL SINGERS- GRADES 3, 4, AND 5: Focuses on learning about God through the development of the child’s singing voice, music reading skills, beginning two-part music, hymn studies, moving, and the playing of instruments. Frequently leads in worship several times during the year.
MISSIONkids!
Children become involved in learning about missions through hands-on activities, helping with church projects, and conducting their own. They learn about people, places and organizations in Athens and around the world.
Special Events
Fall Festival
An annual fall event for children and families to play games, enjoy food, invite their friends and have a great time!
Easter Egg Hunt
On Palm Sunday each year our children’s choirs lead in worship, and families are invited to stay for an Easter Egg hunt and luncheon.
Special Musical & Drama Programs
Our Children’s choirs plan and present a children’s musical each year. This year the presentation will be at our Annual Christmas Banquet.
Vacation Bible School
Each summer our children are invited for a week of Vacation Bible School. This theme-based experience engages our children in Bible study, music, art, games and more.

A summer camp experience for Children in grades 3—6 in which they learn about doing missions in a world without borders.
