Nursery/Childcare

Our nursery was founded to provide a stimulating environment in which young children can receive outstanding care, while achieving potential for social, intellectual, creative, emotional, moral, and physical development. We take pride in a long tradition of providing a safe, nurturing environment in which your children are encouraged to learn and grow. We believe each child is unique and special and a true gift from God.

Our professional nursery caregivers are dedicated to providing your child with a loving atmosphere as close to that of your own home. Every caregiver in the nursery of First Presbyterian Church of Athens is highly skilled and brings many years of loving experience.

The nursery and childcare rooms are open 15 minutes before and after each service. Please pick up your children as soon as possible, as they may become anxious if they are the last child left in the room. Children ages 5 and under must be picked up by a parent.  Please make sure your child's bags, bottles, and cups are labled. For the safety of the children, no gum, candy or outside toys (with the exception of security "lovies") are allowed in the nursery areas.

Our nursery staff is led by Wendi Finch, the First Presbyterian Church Nursery Coordinator. Sarah Bell, Courtney Grant, Rita Raines and Mary Smith  provide God’s youngest children with a loving, nurturing, safe environment to learn about God’s great love through the love shown to each of them. The teachers in the nursery classrooms have a four year degree in either Early Childhood Education, Child and Family Development, or a related field and provide age-appropriate bible stories, activities and games.

Please contact Misse Mallino, Director of Christian Education, with any questions.
