Florence County Progress Committees

Progress committees are the mechanism for getting personally involved in Florence County’s economic development efforts. Working together with the Florence County Economic Development Partnership, we are able to continually improve the quality of life for Florence County residents.

Listed below you will find the Progress Committees, their responsibilities and members. If you would have an interest in serving on one of these committees, please contact our office.

  • Finance Committee:  The Finance Committee shall be responsible for advising the Board regarding financial matters, shall assist the Treasurer in formulating such budgets as may be required, shall be responsible for an annual audit and shall perform other duties as requested by the Executive Committee. The Finance Committee shall be chaired by the Treasurer of Progress. It shall also include at least two other Board members as appointed by the Chairman of the Board.
     
  • Membership Committee: The Membership Committee shall be responsible for membership campaigns, member retention and member appreciation. The Membership Committee shall have a Chairman and at least two other members. Members of this committee may be selected from the Board of Directors or any level of membership.
  • Nominating Committee: The Nominating Committee shall be responsible for evaluating the positions available and making nominations for the Progress and Partnership Boards in November at the Annual Meeting. The Nominating Committee will also be responsible for nominating officers for the Progress Executive Committee during the first Board meeting following the Annual Meeting each year. The Chairman shall appoint a committee of a Chairman and at least two additional Board members.
     
  • Pacesetter Committee: The Pacesetter Committee shall be specifically responsible for the membership campaigns, member retention and member appreciation of Pacesetter level members. The Pacesetter Committee shall consist of a Chairman and at least two additional members. All members of this committee shall be Pacesetters.
     
  • Relocation Committee: The Relocation Steering Committee shall be responsible for the development of a package to aid in the relocation of employees for new and expanding industries in Florence County. The Steering Committee shall be chaired by someone who does not directly benefit from new industry moving into the area. There shall be at least four additional members of the steering committee to be selected from any level of membership.
     
  • *The Relocation Committee will be guided by a steering committee, but will be open to the involvement of all Progress Members or the designated representative’s appointee if they choose not to serve.

We hope to help companies save thousands of dollars in expenses with regard to transferring employees and their families to the area, and at the same time to promote continued sustainable growth in Florence county by making the County attractive to business and industry wishing to relocate and expand."
