Welcoming Ministry Team

The Welcoming Ministry Team makes visitors and members alike feel welcome at First Pres. We do this by greeting everyone who comes through our doors on Sunday morning. We also provide fellowship opportunities for new members when they join the church.

Worship Ministry Team

The mission of the Worship Ministry Team is to assist in regular worship services by providing ushers and preparing the sacrament of Holy Communion. Ushers show worshipers to their seats, hand out bulletins, and receive the offering. Approximately once a month, volunteers help prepare communion, set the communion table, and clean up after the worship services.

Local Mission Team

The purpose of the Local Mission Team is to provide for the needs of individuals and organizations in our church family and surrounding community. Through blood drives, food collection, and many other avenues, you can become involved in showing Christ’s love by helping to make a difference in the lives of people in need. To learn how our local missions affect people’s lives in many positive ways, click here.

Local Mission Partners
Each year, the Board of Deacons votes to determine which outside organizations the congregation will support with special offerings. For 2012, the deacons will support WINGS (Women In Need Growing Stronger); Journeys from PADS to HOPE; Shelter Inc.; Good News Partners/Jonquil Hotel; and Faith Community Homes. To learn more, contact Doug Hiskes at dhiskes@comcast.net.

Caring Ministry Team

The Caring Ministry Team provides a ministry of presence as we reach out with Christ’s love. Flowers are delivered to church members who are hospitalized, in nursing homes, or who are recuperating at home. This small, but important gesture reminds us that we are all cared for and loved by our church family. Through Cards, Calls, and Visits, members who are experiencing a significant life event are contacted by a deacon or other volunteer. Another ministry of this team is to provide funeral receptions for the families of deceased church members.
