Illinois Baptist among 82 SBC missionaries appointed in historic Illinois service

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (BP) | Eighty two new missionaries, including one Illinois Baptist, were appointed by the International Mission Board (IMB) Nov. 7 in Springfield, Ill., during the annual meeting and 100th anniversary celebration of the Illinois Baptist State Association. It was the first IMB Appointment Service ever held in Illinois.

A good time to be an Illinois Baptist

It’s been a few days now since hundreds and hundreds of Illinois Baptists gathered in Springfield for IBSA’s Annual Meeting. We celebrated a century of cooperation as IBSA churches, and we joined the International Mission Board in celebrating the appointment of 82 new missionaries. We heard inspiring preaching and encouraging reports. We united our hearts in worship. And through hallway conversations and mealtimes and receptions honoring old friends, we found ourselves saying over and over again, “What a good time to be an Illinois Baptist.”
