Faith development is important for all of us, and especially for tweens and teens. In four unique Sunday morning classes, youth grades 5th through 12th gain exposure to God's Word and the amazing message of Christ's love at Kirkwood United Methodist Church. In these classes, our experienced leaders and mentors help develop a knowledgeable, understanding, and tolerant youth who not only understands what it means to be a Christian, but also understands what it means for THEM to have a personal relationship with Christ.
Sunday morning classes allow for ALL youth to enjoy fellowship and learn in an safe, non-threatening environment which helps equip them with the necessary tools they'll need to live their lives as examples of Christ in their families, schools, communities, and world.
Each Sunday morning class meets for 1 hour on Sunday morning.
Tween Time: 9:00am to 10:05am - 5th & 6th grade -- Room 105 (Youth Hall)
Using the Rock Solid curriculum, this class learns Bible stories and lessons through games, activities, and crafts as well as light discussion. Classroom activities help youth learn to work together and independently as well as listen and learn from one another.
Mid-High: 9:00am to 10:05am - 7th & 8th grade -- Room 103 (Youth Hall)
Utilizing the Grapple curriculum, this class discusses every day ways in which Biblical scripture applies to them. Through scripture, classroom crafts and games, and discussion, youth are better able to understand what the Bible says and why it's important to put these Biblical lessons to use no matter where they are - at school, home, church, a friend's house...everywhere!
Sr. High: 9:00am to 10:05am - 9th to 12th -- Room 102 (Youth Lounge)
Using a unique blend of current events, popular Christian topics, pop culture, and daily life lessons and living, the Sr. High Sunday morning class helps older teens develop their own sense of religious understanding and provides a safe, friendly setting in which to share personal ideas and thoughts on questions and issues all teens share.
G.Y.M. - 10:30am to 11:30am - 6th to 12th -- Room 102 (Youth Lounge) An opportunity for youth to lead children, G.Y.M. - God, You, and Me - is a youth-led children's worship and learning time with worship, song, and learning taking place every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month. Every 2nd and 4th Sunday, youth plan and prepare for the next week. On 5th Sundays, youth and children together participate in a mission project.
