David Erwin joined Ladue Chapel's ministry team as Director of Music Ministry in September 2005. David is a native of West Virginia and has previously served as Minister of Music of the First Presbyterian Church, Greenwich, Connecticut and Director of Music Ministries of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Alexandria, Virginia.
David studied at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey, from which he was awarded the Bachelor of Music (summa cum laude) and Master of Music (with distinction) degrees in Church Music, with organ as the principal instrument. While in graduate school, he was teaching assistant in the Organ Department, responsible for the instruction of all organ minors. In recent years he has continued his organ study in France with Marie-Louise Langlais, professor at the Paris Conservatory (CNR).
At Ladue Chapel, David directs the Chorister Choir, the Carol Choir, the Chancel Choir, the Chapel Ringers, the Carillon Ringers, and the Genesis Ringers II in addition to serving as organist. He also is a member of the Music and Arts Committee and the Worship Council.
David lives in Alton, Illinois, and in his spare time enjoys reading (in English and in French), travel, and taking care of his black lab Samantha.
