Tom Balog

Background

Tom has been attending McKendree since 2005, where he served as an Intern working with the Youth Ministry until becoming a staff member in June, 2006. Tom grew up in Florida but has been a Georgian since 1983. Tom has an undergraduate degree in Decision Sciences from Georgia State University and a Masters of Divinity from the Candler School of Theology (Emory University).

Family

Tom is married to the love of his life, Dawn, and they have two daughters.

Hobbies

Tom loves to read, watch movies, camp, work around the house, and play games.

Best Advice

My dad always taught me to not put myself above doing anything and to put forth my best effort in everything I do. I remember him saying something like, “Son, if you are going to be a sanitation engineer, aim to drive the truck!” My family has always been my greatest support structure.

Favorite Scripture

Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” It is always when I move forward with the plans I have that I get in trouble. Then I always remember that I am not in charge and let go of the reins. Praise God!!
