Background

McKendree’s church organist, John Bunn, graduated from Lee College (University) in Cleveland, TN with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. He is originally from North Carolina and has lived in the city of Atlanta since 1997. Prior to becoming organist at McKendree in 2000, John has served in other churches as a pianist, organist, and choir director. He wrote a Christmas cantata, “Christmas This Year”, which has been presented both in North Carolina and in Georgia.

Recently, John received his Masters of Education in Instruction from Central Michigan University. He also teaches social studies at Hull Middle School in Gwinnett County.

Hobbies

John enjoys all aspects of music including playing keyboards, recording, composition, and listening. He also spends time working with anything involving multi-media.

Scripture

All of Psalms 139 has special meaning and promise to John. For example, “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there: if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.” Psalms 139 7-8 NIV.
