My roots go back to a farm near Tracy, Iowa, and as a teenager moving with my parents to Pella, Iowa. I attended Central College in Pella, and earned a degree from American Institute of Business, Des Moines, IA. Later in life, much later, I completed a Degree in Business Administration from Graceland University, through a partnership program with AIB College of Business. Most of my business career, 30+ years, was with Ruan Transportation Management Systems, Des Moines, IA. I held many positions in corporate management, operations and administration and became a specialist in supply management, leaving the company in 2002 as Vice President, Purchasing. After a few years with another trucking and transportation company, I felt the call to Meredith Drive. For many years I was seeking a change, something totally different, out of the corporate world, and when it came I almost missed it because it wasn’t within my timing! But, God was there, faithful as always, and woke me up to accept this challenging, rewarding position as Executive Administrator for MDRC. I view this not as a job, but instead a ministry, and I feel privileged and honored to offer a small part in the work of His church. My wife, Sharon, and I have been members of MDRC for decades. We have three children, all grown and married with families of their own. We are blessed, not only to have them and their spouses, but a total of ten grandchildren. Much of our spare time is spent with family and doing what grandparents do best, spoiling grandkids.
