Volunteer Opportunities

The Old Presbyterian Meeting House currently supports the following local missions through volunteers and financial gifts.

Weekly

Monthly

  • Meals on Wheels: 4th Friday of every month; Deliver prepared meals to elderly shut-ins. Contact: Catherine Clinger at 703-548-8678.
  • Carpenter Shelter Dinners: 4th Sunday evening of each month: Preparing and serving a meal at homeless shelter. Contact: Atilla Kocsis at 703-549-7110; or Cathy Cash Thormeyer at 702-765-2368.
  • Carpenters Shelter Desk Duty: 4th Sunday of each month; Staffing the desk. Contact: Catherine Clinger at 703-548-8678.
  • Bag Lunch Program: Prepare sandwiches and drop them off at the Meeting House; or serve sandwiches, weekday lunchtime at Meade Episcopal Church in Old Town. Contact: Mary Lee Anderson at 703-549-5636
  • Christ House Dinners: Preparing and serving a meal every other month, Tuesday evening Contact: Becky Brady at 703-765-0424.

Once a year

  • Rebuilding Together: Home repairs; 4th Saturday in April; occasional needs throughout the year. OPMH contact: Atilla Kocsis at 703-549-7110. Rebuilding Together contact: 703-836-1021

  • ALIVE! : Preparing and delivering bags of groceries; receiving and processing requests for emergency assistance (by phone); help with furniture delivery or house wares delivery; Last Saturday food distribution www.alive-inc.org
  • Building Better Futures: Mentors / tutors for Latino students at TC Williams HS
  • Carpenter’s Shelter (homeless shelter) : Many volunteer opportunities.
  • Habitat for Humanity: Building homes or supporting the Habitat Restore.
