Pastor Shelton was born and raised in Jackson, MS. He grew up in a family that was always very active in church. From a very young age, worship has always been his passion. In his teenage years, he answered the call to follow Christ and to serve Him through his musical gifts. The journey has been incredible, so far. In 1985, he attended Jackson College of Ministries and was involved traveling and recording all four years in the Lanny Wolfe Trio / Singers and The Jackson College Chorale. In 1987, he met his southern belle, a Mississippi girl named Alyson Davis. Born and raised as a Pastor's daughter, she too had sung most of her life with her brothers, Geron and Jeff Davis. She, along with her brothers and several young people from their dad's church, had also traveled and sung in a group known as The Believer's.

Upon completing their studies at Jackson College of Ministries, achieving a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Music and studies at Mississippi College, Shelton & Alyson married in 1989. They have a beautiful daughter, DeAnndra, also a Mississippi girl, and a feisty son they call Coco, a Yorkie.

Serving at several churches as both Assistant and Worship Pastors, the Loverns have seen God use their gifts and talents to advance each church in it's own way. In 1996, Shelton & Alyson joined Alyson's brother & sister-in-law, Geron & Becky Davis, to form the group Geron Davis and Kindred Souls. Traveling around the globe, they have touched the lives of millions through concerts, conferences, clinics, television and radio appearances, as well as participating in countless worship events with major international ministries and churches.

After over a decade in fulltime ministry with GD & KS, God placed in their hearts a call to join Pastors Joey & Rita Rogers and Pace Assembly Ministries. The cry of their hearts is and always will be - "There is never a wrong time to Praise the Lord! The Promise of His Presence is in our Praise".
