Park Street small groups are Christ-centered communities of three to thirteen people who meet together regularly in order to grow in grace and wisdom, hear God’s word and put it into practice, spur one another on toward love and good deeds, and pray for each other faithfully.

The small group ministry exists at Park Street because we know how difficult it can be to develop meaningful relationships and spiritual friendships in a large community. The following small group categories are designed to help you find the small group that is the right fit for you.
Park Street Café is a ministry to single and married people in and around their 20s-30s. Café sponsors a number of small group Bible studies of 7 to 15 people in order to foster personal spiritual growth. Most groups meet at the church on the first, third, and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 7pm. Each week, a “Connecting Group” meets in the Common Room and is open to newcomers; simply come to the church at 7 pm on a Tuesday, and someone at the welcome table will direct you. Café also holds a large group fellowship meeting on the second Tuesday of the month, which includes contemporary worship and a talk on a relevant topic. The Café ‘Early 20’s’ ministry is now meeting on Thursday nights at 7pm for those 21-25. For more info, email: café-smallgroups[at]parkstreet.org .
Park Street Union is a ministry for young married and engaged couples (usually about 20s into mid 30s). Union sponsors about 20 small groups that meet around the Boston area throughout the week. Most are composed of 4-5 couples, but some are larger or smaller. In addition, the ministry hosts large social events on a monthly basis, which range from purely social events (bowling nights, progressive dinners) to more informative panels (e.g. missions, marriage, finance). You may view the small group map to see the locations of the couples groups and find one in your area, or you may email unionsmallgroups[at]parkstreet.org for more information.
Neighborhood Groups are organized by location and meet in homes around the Boston area for Bible study, fellowship, and prayer. Most neighborhood groups are cross-generational and composed of couples and singles. Some are composed of couples only (see “Couples Groups,” above), and a few are gender-specific. You may view the small group map to see the locations of the neighborhood groups and find one in your area, or you may submit a “join” questionnaire in order to be matched with a group.
Park Street Church has some women’s groups and some men’s groups that emphasize accountability and more open sharing in addition to Bible study. These may be neighborhood-based groups, or may be groups that meet at the church (e.g., Café small groups). In order to inquire about a gender-specific group, you may view the small group map to see the locations of the gender-specific groups and find one in your area, or you may submit a “Join” questionnaire in order to be matched with a group.
Here are a few on going groups to try:
Wednesday morning Bible study, 10–11:30am (year-round) at Park Street Church. Childcare provided. Contact Carolee Howell: 617.225.2339, caroleehowell[at]comcast.net.
Faith Journey Bible Study, Thursdays, 9:45–11:30am (Sep–May) at Newton Presbyterian Church. Childcare provided. Contact Myra Bruce: 781.246.1413, myra[at]bruce.org; or Chris May: 781.665.5284, cmay[at]parkstreet.org.
Woman’s Benevolent Society, Wednesdays, 10am – 2pm (Sep–May) at Park Street Church. Prayer and practical/missions helps. Contact Judy Borgen: 781.335.5091.
Philosophy Group (Aletheia): This group gives people a context in which to work out their faith intellectually, or to explore the Christian faith. Its members learn together through discussion patterned after Socratic dialogue. No background in philosophy is necessary. In past series, they have read selections from authors such as G.K. Chesterton, Soren Kierkegaard, and Anthony Flew. They have taken up topics such as science and faith, ethics, free will, world religions, and whatever else group members find relevant. Simply come to the Park Street Church library on Mondays at 7:00 pm or email: philosophy[at]parkstreet.org for more information.
Homeless Outreach: This group serves together by offering Christ-centered hope, spiritual encouragement and material support to the people on the streets in our neighborhood. They begin their meetings with a one-hour Bible study, followed by 1.5 hours of ministry to the homeless on Boston Common with food, clothing, and worship, followed by a ½ hour wrap-up. New members are welcome, but a 1-year commitment is required, including mandatory weekly attendance (emergencies and other last-minute change of plans are respected, but they want to demonstrate to the homeless a high level of commitment). Thursdays, 7-10pm, Park Street Church Fellowship Hall. For more information, email: scareport[at]googlemail.com.
Hour of Prayer: Join with others to pray every Sunday from 9-:45-10:45 in the FOCUS Conference Room. Pray for the needs of the congregation, Boston, the world, and for your own needs. For more information, email Millard Baublitz: baublitz81[at]gmail.com.
Friendship Bible Study: Adults 19+ who are impacted by cognitive or learning disabilities. This is a Bible study for those who prefer a slower pace and learn best using a "hands-on" approach, not just hearing but also seeing visuals, touching props and role playing. Meets at Park Street in two groups: Wednesdays 7:00-8:30 pm or Sundays 2:30-3:45 pm. For more information, email Sharon Postma: sapostma[at]verizon.net.
