What do small communities do?
Small communities are first and foremost a way to connect more deeply and intentionally with a faith community. We also join together in the following ways:
Worship & Liturgy
Small communities rotate supporting our 10 AM Sunday worship service. Members of these communities give their gifts of ministry as readers, thurifers, greeters, and more. You can learn more about these liturgical roles and our worship in our Sunday Liturgical Roles guide and our Cathedral Greeters guide.
Fellowship
Small communities can come together to attend events, share meals, and even have house church. Every community has a clergy person who serves as the community’s chaplain, providing pastoral support and encouragement while also getting to enjoy life with a small community.
Outreach
Volunteering together is a wonderful opportunity to connect over a shared sense of mission and service. Small communities coordinate outreach projects through the Cathedral outreach ministries as well as other volunteer and service opportunities in the Philadelphia area.
