About Pike Creek Bible Church
Pike Creek Bible Church is a group of committed Christians who gather each week on our beautiful 20 acre campus, to worship God together and to give each other mutual encouragement. We genuinely care about each other and our relationship with Christ.
Our church was established in Newark, DE in 1961 and has a rich history of solid Bible teaching. We are a nondenominational, evangelical Christian church. That means that we are governed by our own elders, not an outside organization.
We invite you to experience the genuine worship, encouraging Bible based messages, friendly people and enjoyable atmosphere that are a part of our church family. We hope you will come to worship on Sunday, study with us during the week and experience the difference of Pike Creek Bible Church. Purpose Statement
We exist to treasure, proclaim and grow in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
A Community of Faith
Pike Creek Bible Church is not just about an uplifting worship service on Sunday morning or an in-depth evening Bible study. We are a community of faith sharing our lives together! Although our church does have great corporate worship services, terrific small groups, a wonderful children's ministry and a dynamic youth program, they are just the outward signs of life at this "Body of Christ.
"Our common faith in our Lord Jesus is what "knits us together" and it is the foundation of all our social interactions. We share our joys, successes and good times. We also share our hurts, disappointments and failures. Our Christian walk of faith encourages us to trust in God...whatever the circumstance. As the Apostle Paul wrote, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Philippians 4:13)
Why We Are A "Bible Church"
Although church names can sometimes be misleading, they can also serve to identify the major emphasis of certain congregations. Such is the case with PCBC. We are an evangelical faith community where The Scriptures are recognized as authoritative and honored as God’s inerrant Word. We are a "Bible Church" because we want our name to reflect our commitment to the Word of God. The Bible is central to our beliefs and practices. We believe it, we teach it and we strive to live it! There is no "Bible Church" denomination. Instead, we are both independent and interdependent with other churches of like faith - regardless of their denominational affiliation.
Embracing Sovereign Grace
Pike Creek Bible Church is reformed and Baptistic in our theology. We trust wholly in the sovereign grace of God in and over all things. As John MacArthur has said, "Scripture affirms both divine sovereignty and human responsibility. We must accept both
sides of the truth, though we may not understand how they correspond to one another."
We also affirm the five "Solas" of the Reformation:
"Sola Scriptura" - Scripture Alone
"Sola Gratia" - Grace Alone
"Sola Fide" - Faith Alone
"Solus Christus" - Christ Alone
"Soli Deo Gloria" - To the Glory of God Alone
Our church stands in the tradition of the historic Reformed Confessions of Faith such as The London Baptist Confession of 1644 and the Second London Baptist Confession of 1689.
