To worship is to make much of God. It puts the light on Him, exalts Him, reflects Him, and honors Him. In a very real sense, worship is alligning ourselves with God, whether through words, actions, values, and beliefs. He is recognized for who He is, and everything else, everybody else, is subjected to Him.
We do that indiviually as we seek to passionately display the life of Jesus in every area of our lives. Indeed, every aspect of our lives are to be making much of God, so it is a continual pursuit and endeavor.
But it is a great privilege to do that together with others as a church family. The following are some of the ways we express our worship as a church.
Celebration is what we do every Sunday morning at 10:30. It is when we gather together as followers of Jesus Christ and make much of Him through song, testimony, and preaching the Word of God. Our songs are Biblically based, and emotionally riviting. The style is a mix of Tomlin, Crowder, and Passion mixed in with hymn remakes and some traditonal. It is led by a praise band, along with a praise choir and ensemble. While upbeat in nature, it is both reflective and expressive of our faith heritage. There are often opportunities to participate with testimony of God's faithfulness, and prayer for each other as we face life's opportunities together. Celebrating communion, baptisms of new believers, and accounts of exploits for God's glory are also a part of what we do. And of course, the preaching of the Word of God is declared with great confidence that it offers a greater glimpse of the heart and mind of this great God we worship.
The Praise Band is a vital part of our Celebration service, so if you are gifted with a musical ability in any instrument, we would love to incorporate that into leading others in their worship of God. The Praise Team Ensemble is a smaller group of those who desire to use their musical abilities in leading the congregation in singing praises to God along with the praise band. A heart that is surrendered to Christ is a prerequisite. Practices are on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm, and while there is an audition to be a part of the team, you are invited to show up and practice with them.Contact Pedro Tuck for more information on how you can participate.
The Praise Choir is a regular part of our Celebration service as well, both leading and modeling for the congregation what it means to joyfully worship God with abandon. They periodically present special arraingements that point us on to all that God is and what He has done. Highlights of that are presented in the Christmas season and at Easter. Everyone who has a love for music and desire to express their love for God through it are encouraged to join. Practices are most Wednesday nights from 8:00 - 9:00 pm. Again, contact Pedro Tuck for more information.
The One Heart Dance Team is an opportunity for those who appreciate the art of dance and its power in interpreting and displaying the power of worship songs in a tasteful yet poingient way. Practices are on Wednesdays from 8:00 - 9:00 pm. A team agreement must be signed to participate. Contact Barbie Hart for more details.
