God is passionate about us knowing Him. He saves us so we can become His children, and grow in our faith in Him that we can better display His glory in and through our lives. God is about transforming us from what we were into everything He has planned for us to become. This means we are to grow up into the fullness of all He intends for us, and he designed for that to happen in community. It is to that end that we have multiple opportunities to be nurtured in our faith in the context of relationship with others. While this always involves the Word of God being the foundation and authority, it is interacted with in different ways.
The common opportunity for the entire body to be nurtured together is through the preaching of the Word of God in the Sunday Celebration Service. It gives the entire church body the chance to be challenged by a common message toward a common destination that has us reflecting the person of Jesus Christ together. That is a powerful thing to be a part of.
Of course, there are also opportunities to do that in smaller groups throughout the week. Connect Classes (like the traditional Sunday School classes) are ways to gather with people at a common stage of life and invest in each others' lives centered around the teaching of the Word of God. These tend to be more content driven, but also have the relational dimension present that is crucial in applying the Word into life. These primarily happen on Sunday morning and Wednesdays on campus. There are also Connect Groups, which tend to be more relational driven, but also have a portion devoted to the teaching or application of the Word. These typically happen off campus in homes throughout the week in various settings and times.
The opportunty for nurture also exists for the youth and children with Connect Classes for their age groups on Sunday mornings, FUZION for the youth, and AWANA for the children on Wednesday nights. LifeKIDS is also available for kids during the sermon on Sunday mornings to further interact with the Word of God on a level that is conducive to them.
Anyone who is desiring to be discipled and trained in the disciplines of how to pray & study the Bible among others can either participate in a class or group that specifically addresses that, or, can be mentored by another believer who is committed to helping others grow in that area. Contact Rich Hart if you are interested in pursuing that.
