Here’s how YOU can get connected with fellow church members and do God’s work at Rocky Mount UMC and in your community! Opportunities exist for all ages!

 

Adults:

 

Bible Studies - Throughout the week we offer many Bible Studies - check under Ministries tab or in the church office for the latest offerings!

 

Adult Sunday School Classes - 8:45 & 9:45 each Sunday morning - Classes are available for adults who are at various stages of their life journey.

 

Keenagers - This group of active older adults meets once a month for fellowship, Bible Study, and site-seeing.

 

Music - We have Chancel Choir, Praise Team, Praise Band, and Hand Bells Choir, as well as solo, duet, and trio singing opportunities.

 

Prayer Service - Sunday evenings at 5:30pm is another opportunity to thank God for our blessings and to raise up prayers to Him. Enjoy singing a cappella to some wonderful hymns.

 

Small Groups - 12 or less adult fellowship and study the Bible and discuss how to apply the Word to everyday life situations.

 

Softball Teams - Competitive and recreational team opportunities are available for all adults.

 

United Methodist Men - Men who want to take their Christian walk a step further can join this group to mentor others, study the Bible, and help local missions. The men meet the third Thursday of every month at various locations.

 

United Methodist Women - Four circles - Nancy Parker, Lucy Christie, Florida Simms, Mary Jones and Martha Cornelius circles - are available for women who want participate in Christian outreach and missions. These opportunities for small group Christian sisterhood meet the first Tuesday of each month at various locations; Martha Cornelius Circle will meet the 4th Monday of each month. Wednesdays - Adult studies are offered from 6 - 7 pm each Wednesday. Consult the What’s Happening tab for specific opportunities.

 

Other opportunities to connect: 

 

*1st Impressions: usher, greet or be a part of the hospitalilty team at your preferred service

*Teach a class for youth or adults

*Lead a Children’s Moment during services

*Be a nursery volunteer

*Be a Small Group Leader or Bible Study Teacher

*Join an exercise class (MWF 8am Beginner Fitness in the Fellowship Hall) or (M-W Intermediate Cardio-Sculpt 4:30pm in the Fellowship Hall) or (Th 7pm Yoga in Room 117) and get fit physically and spiritually!

 

   

 

Youth:

  

 

Confirmation Classes - Each summer kids 11 - 13 are invited to develop a deeper relationship with Christ and what it means to be a member of the body of Christ. This class prepares young people to join the church.

 

 

 

Drama Team - This team is the “Crew” for youth musicals. They are accompanied by the KidsChoir.

 

 

Sunday School Classes - Sunday 9:45 - The high school class meets downstairs in the Youth Room and the middle school class meets upstairs in room 225.  Each class provides age-appropriate Bible teaching and activities.

 

 

UMYF - Middle School - This group meets from 6-7:30 pm every other Sunday in the Fellowship Hall. Teens will participate in activities, missions, Bible studies, retreats, summer camps, and fun outings to build fellowship and faith.

 

 

Youth Group - High School - This group meets from 6-7:30 pm each Sunday evening in the Fellowship Hall. These older teens will participate in activities, missions, Bible studies, retreats, summer camps, and fun outings to build fellowship and faith. They will also confront the growing worldly pressures in their lives and how to stay on a Christian path in their daily lives. 

 

Children:

 

 Sunday School - 9:45 am each Sunday - Children’s classes are available from birth through 5th grade.  Classes are located downstairs in our Education area.  

 

 

 

Children’s Moments - The 8:30 service - kids three years to 5th grade have a special sermon message given during the service that speaks to them at their level.

  

Preschool - 2, 3, or 4 year-olds can go to school from 9 am - noon during the school year. Children learn school readiness skills as well as Bible lessons, manners, and social skills.

 

 

Summer Camps - These camps are offered during various weeks and offer fun themes that kids will enjoy.
