Walking is a great exercise and conveniently available in a safe environment at Saxe Gotha Presbyterian. For the walker who likes temperature control or wants to stay dry on a rainy day, it is 16 1/2 laps per mile around the gym.
If you enjoy and prefer strolling in the great outdoors, it is three laps per mile around the church parking lot of the Main Building to the front side of the church (sanctuary side). You can walk the entire property at two laps per mile by going from the front of the church all the way around the rear of the Light House. Get a partner or group together and start walking on a regular basis. This is a great way to exercise, meditate and have prayer with God.
Run for God began here at Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Fall 2012 and was so popular that we have offered other classes in winter 2013 and 2014. The group meets weekly and has had over 50 people of all ages signed up and participating.
Run for God is part Bible study and part training program. The primary goal is to learn to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ while understanding the parallels of running and faith. Participants can potentially run their first 5k in just 12 weeks! One learns how the sport of running relates to one's faith.
