United Heroes Projects:  Learn to knit a "HUG of THANKS" helmet liner for deployed military in Afghanistan and Iraq. A weekly knitting class is taught by Mrs. Lydia Ropp, and is on Wednesdays at 6:00 pm in Room 141/142. Written instructions/pattern for the helmet liner will be provided. Materials needed: 1 pair of size 10 knit-ting needles, 100% soft worsted (100 grams/3.5 ounces) wool yarn. (1 skein makes 2 helmet liners). Military regulations require that the helmet liners be in SOLID colors of black, grey, olive or tan and made of 100% wool. 100% wool is non-flammable and will supply warmth even when wet. Michaels and A. C. Moore carry the Paton brand 100% wool yarn. Look for the 40% off regular price item cou-pon in each Sunday paper store ad.
