The Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministers are lay members who provide a listening ear to those in need during a difficult time in their lives. These connections are confidential and matched up by gender.
Stephen Ministers have “Big Hearts,” so if you are feeling unloved or need a friend, call or e-mail Troy Simpson at 359-7770 x 41 or tsimpson@saxegotha.org, or contact Carol Perrin, the referral coordinator for women, at tictic8000@yahoo.com.  Again, your identity and requests are kept confidential.

How Do You Become a Stephen Minister?

Brief Overview below...follow this link for full text...

  • You should be aware of which spirtual gifts will be of most value to a Stephen Minister.  Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church uses the Team Ministry Spirtual Gifts Inventory to help identify spirtual gifts and how and where to use them. Here is a link to the Spirtual Gifts inventory. Once there, just follow the instructions and wait for your results.
  • You need to be a Christian caring person who is willing to learn, grow, and serve.
  • You must be able to maintain confidentiality.  This is one of the most important factors of Stephen Ministry.
  • You need to understand the time required to commit to training, Stephen Ministry and Supervision Meetings.
