Church Planting Mission Opportunities

Greater D.C. Church Planting

The SBCV, in partnership with the North American Mission Board, is actively involved in planting new churches throughout the Greater Washington DC area. Through this partnership, many of the worlds major people groups, which are represented throughout the District and within the 495 Beltway, will have opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is a daunting task, but one that the SBCV embraces boldly and readily for the cause of Jesus Christ.

God has blessed the SBCV with several gifted Church Planting Missionaries that represent Hispanic, Eastern and Western European, Middle Eastern, North African, Asian, and African American people groups. These missionaries are being used of God to network for the purpose of sharing Christ, forming core groups that could become congregations, and identifying and equipping lay leaders for ministry and leadership roles.

If you would like to bring a mission team or volunteer group to Greater Washington DC to participate in church planting activities, please send an email to sbcv@sbcv.org.

PowerPlant Recap

This year was a huge success! Each church planter that PowerPlant helped raved about how the groups constantly encouraged him during the week. A total of 4,520 more contacts were attained for church planters in the Richmond area alone! 20 people were led to faith in Christ because of this event and the youth involved. The impact of the youth coming to help the church planters was felt beyond just the numbers. Leaders and members alike of the church plants were challenged to share their faith with those living in their neighborhoods. PowerPlant participants learned church planting principles and evangelism skills each morning, and then had a chance to engage personally through ministry team activities!
