Ministries at St. Richard's
Acolytes - assisting during the worship service. Typically for teenagers, however, adults are also welcome to serve. Contact Carol Alves.
Altar Guild - the work of caring for the altar and its sacred appointments. Maintain items associated with Holy Communion as well as readying the church for any and all services throughout the week. Contact Julie Stanick.
Choir - music ministry that practices every Sunday starting at 9 am in the choir room, followed by a brief rehearsal in the Sanctuary. Contact Geoffrey Shoffstall.
Daughters of the King - lay order of women who take a vow of prayer and service. Active also in other organizations within St. Richard's. Meet once a month. Contact Joyce Walworth.
Education Committee - planning religious educational and spiritually enriching programs on Sunday from 9:15 am to 10:15 am in the Parish Hall. Contact the Rector.
Flower Guild - flower arrangements for altars. Don't need experience in flower arranging. Saturday mornings. Contact Marlene Kvalheim.
Foyer Groups - we gather around the table to get to know one another and share a meal. We meet casually in homes or restaurants, 6 - 10 randomly selected people; couples, singles, all ages, newcomers, older timers. Once a month Oct - May. Host prepares main dish, others bring appetizers, salad, vegetable, dessert, wine, etc. Contact Sandy North.
Fellowship Committee - membership is open to all who enjoy planning fun events for our parish family. This group meets several times a year and plans activities to be held on a monthly basis to bring our church family closer together on an informal basis. Events include suppers, entertainment, fund raisers, parties, games. Some have become yearly traditions, but we are always ready to try something new and different. Friendship Network - Connect with others in our parish if you can commit a bit of your time to chat with someone about a book, TV program or movie. Contact Kay Davidson-Bond.
Greeters/Newcomers - welcoming and greeting newcomers. Contact Pat and Terry Duffy.
Lay Eucharistic Ministers - assisting at the altar during worship services. Contact Christy Woodruff.
Lay Eucharistic Visitors - bring the Holy Sacraments to those who cannot attend services due to illness or other incapacity. Contact Betty Fisher or Burr Anderson.
Lectors - reading of the scriptures during services. Contact Christy Woodruff.
Men's Fellowship - assist in building and grounds maintenance, breakfast for Mother's Day, Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper. Meet once a month. Contact Johnnie Johnson.
Outreach - food for needy at Christmas, homeless middle school aged children, feeding the hungry in Sanford, Interfaith Hospitality Network, food bank, Safehouse Seminole, etc. Contact Terry and Pat Duffy.
Pastoral Care Team - minister to our parishioners and each other. To do what we can to let folks who are facing some challenge or another to know that God loves them and walk beside them in their journey. Contact Deacon Linda Bronsted or Gail Hencken.
Prayer Shawl - gather twice a month to knit/crochet a shawl for people with illnesses. As the shawl is created, the members pray that God will provide them with comfort, strength and healing. New project is "Itty Bit" for veterans lap blankets and caps for babies in hospitals. Contact Sharon Knapp.
St. Margaret's Guild - outreach guild for St. Richard's. Meet on the 3rd Monday each month at 10 am. Supports: a boy in school at El Hogar, Little Roses, Orlando Rescue Mission, Salvation Army, Orlando Day Nursery, Beta House, Mental Health of Central Florida, The Russell Home, Orlando Christian Service Center and the Hug Me Program. Roses and cards are sent to the Guild members when sick or in the hospital. Contact Shirley Emory.
