From Your Pastor’s Desk
Last Monday the Parish Council discerned its leadership for next year.
Chair — Connie Kordsmeier
Vice– Chair — Christy Moser (2nd year)
Secretary — Ted Jaekels (2nd year)
I’m very grateful to these three for hearing the call to leadership and responding with generosity. With Connie at the helm and two experienced officers on board along with two veteran trustees in Bob Stoffel and Eileen Placek the transition for Fr. Jerry Herda should be very smooth.
Along with that, last weekend you nominated yourself or someone else for a Council committee. That leads up to each committee sending a liaison to Parish Council to fill out its membership. This is how it works.
Those of you who were nominated will be notified by mail and asked to attend an orientation meeting on Monday April 28th which is our next Common Leadership Night. On that occasion the committees will review their guidelines, assess their progress for the year on their established goals, and discern next year’s committee members, officers, and liaison to Parish Council. That process will allow those nominated to see if they really want to be seated on the committee. (A new committeemember cannot be discerned to Parish Council). Those discerned as liaisons to Council will then stay and attend the Parish Council meeting as observers. That meeting follows the short social after Common Leadership Night. (School Board has necessarily slighted adapted this process.)
One more piece of this which is very important is that Common Leadership Night next year will be on Tuesdays instead of Mondays. Fr. Jerry Herda will be taking his day off on Wednesday. So if you cannot make a Tuesday meeting you should not accept a seat on a Council Committee.
Thanks so much to Christy Moser for organizing this year’s nomination process. She did an excellent job. Thanks to those who spoke at the Masses about it. You were very clear about the importance of this for parish life and instilled the enthusiasmfor this that is needed.
