I am very thankful to Fr. Ken for all his hard work in taking St. Eugene through the Faith in Our Future Capital Campaign. To date we have reached our initial goal of $1.25 million. I am most grateful to the
many people who took on leadership roles in coordinating the capital campaign and I certainly would like to thank all who have contributed to this capital campaign. Thank you for your generosity. I would invite anyone who has not yet given or made a pledge to the capital campaign to please prayerfully consider making a gift. Both Fr. Paul and I have made a personal pledge and are happy to contribute to this campaign.
I am still learning about the specifics of our case here at St. Eugene and how we will spend our portion of the money from the capital campaign. The one item that I have received a number of questions and comments about is the new baptismal font and renovations to the narthex. Let me be very clear from the beginning, I am very much in favor of the new baptismal font. I certainly think we are in need of a new font.
With that being said, I do have some questions and concerns about the renovations, which will need to be addressed before we begin any of the work. My first concern is cost. It is my understanding that the cost of some of the materials has increased substantially, so we will need to take a look at what we can afford to do. My next concerns are some practical concerns regarding the designs and plans. Fr. Paul, Bill Lieven and I met with John Holz to begin addressing some of my concerns. We will certainly keep the parish council and all of you,
the parishioners informed as we move along.
Thank you again for your support of the capital campaign and all your support of St. Eugene in so many ways.
Have a great week, see you in Church!
God bless,
Fr. Jerry Herda
