St. George's Music and Arts Ministry
St. George's Music and Arts ministry seeks to feed God's people through music and the arts. We pray that through our efforts, we may see glimpses of God's unveiled beauty.
Saint George's
Music & Arts Ministry
Our music ministry actively involves children, youth and adults. Great importance is placed on the value of knowing and serving God through the offering of music in the worship of God’s Church. Our goal is to grow in the stewardship of the musical gifts God has given us, and through this work to experience ourselves and inspire others to a deeper faith in Christ. Come, let us sing to the Lord!

Choral Ensembles
As ministers of music, we make known the love of God and the beauty of God’s creation through our song. We aspire to teach, to learn, to inspire, and to lead. Saint George’s is afiliated of the Royal School of Church Music in America (RSCM). All of our ensembles are based on RSCM’s Voice for Life curriculum, which emphasizes well-rounded musicianship, life long growth in music and faith; vocal and ear training, as well as theoretical knowledge and ministry through liturgical leadership and community service.
Saint George’s Choir
Saint George’s Choir is a mixed group of women and men that assist with the musical leadership of our 10:30am Sunday Eucharist, as well as Holy Day liturgies. The choir is open to anyone of high school age and up who is willing and able to make a reasonable commitment. You do not to be a professional singer, although a pleasant voice and sense of pitch are helpful. Most important is an eagerness to be challenged, stimulated, and open to experiencing the reward of spiritual and musical growth working together with a wonderful group of dedicated people. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings from 8:00 to 9:30pm, and Sunday mornings at 9:30am prior to worship. Occasionally additional rehearsals are called in order to prepare for special services. To join this ensemble, please speak with Dr. Keseley, Minister of Music.
Laudate Youth Choir
Our Youth Choir is for teens in grades seven through twelve who enjoy singing and leading in worship. The choir rehearses on Sundays at Noon following the 10:30am worship service and sings about once a month at the 10:30am service, as well as at the early Christmas Eve service, Easter Sunday, and other special services. To join this ensemble, please speak with Dr. Keseley, Minister of Music.
Children’s Choirs
We have two choirs for children ages 3 through sixth grades. These choristers learn the fundamentals of choral singing and receive formation in the music and worship traditions of The Episcopal Church. All that is required is a love of singing, a willingness to participate in group activities and availability to attend Thursday rehearsals and Sunday services.
The Angel Choir (formerly Half Notes) rehearses on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 7:00pm. Children age 3-Kindergarten are invited to join the Cherub Choir. The group sings in worship 1-2 times each semester, as well as at the early Christmas Eve service and on Easter Sunday. To join this ensemble, please speak with Mrs. Rebecca Hill, director, or Dr. Keseley, Minister of Music.

The Saint Cecilia Choir (formerly the Angel Choir) is composed of students in the first through sixth grades. They rehearse on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 7:15pm in the music room and sing approximately every 4-6 weeks at the 10:30am service, as well as at the early Christmas Eve service, Easter Sunday and at other special services. To join this ensemble, please speak with Dr. Keseley, Minister of Music.

Bells of Saint George
Saint George’s handbell choir is open to both adults and youth. A sense of rhythm and music reading skills are helpful, but not required. This choir rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. in the Bell Room, and plays approximately every four to six weeks during the school year. We also participate in special services as scheduled. To join this ensemble, please speak with Dr. Keseley, Minister of Music.
Cantors
Saint George’s maintains a roster of trained cantors that assist with leading the liturgy as needed. Cantors usually serve in the role of psalmist, proclaiming the psalm of the day. Cantors also assist in leading the congregation in its sung liturgical responses. Training is provided to all cantors. To be added to the Cantor roster, please contact Dr. Keseley.
Instrumentalists
Please tell us if you have experience playing musical instruments, such as strings, brass, woodwinds, percussion, piano, harpsichord and organ. Saint George’s welcomes instrumentalists to share their gifts in worship in a variety of ways. To be added to the Instrumentalist roster, please contact Dr. Keseley.
Organist’s Assistants
Children in grades 4-12 are invited serve as an Organist Assistant. Help the organist by turning pages for preludes, postludes, and anthems, marking hymns in the hymnal, assisting with organ registration changes (changing sounds on the organ), and giving pitches to the cantor and choir. If you would like to become an Organist’s Assistant, please see Dr. Keseley.
Saint George’s Music Ministry Volunteer Opportunities
Choir Parents Guild
This group of volunteers assists the children’s and youth choir directors with logistics help at rehearsals, services and social functions. Duties may include helping with piano accompaniment, vestments and choir vesting, sitting with the choristers during services and rehearsals, taking attendance, car pool, snacks and folders. Please see any of the music staff if you are willing and able to assist us.
Music Volunteers
Keeping everything organized for our choirs and ensembles requires a great deal of behind-the-scenes assistance and organizational help. Most of these activities do not require any musical training and include checking-in new musical scores, music library work, office filing, folder organization, computer help, etc. Please see any of the music staff if you are willing and able to help us. This vital ministry allows us to concentrate more of our efforts on music planning, preparation and practice.
