In contrast to the seasons of Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter, the Church has sometimes called this Season of Pentecost “ordinary time”.  That is no insult to this Season, because God graciously takes what is ordinary and makes it extraordinary by the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit.  In these many weeks after Pentecost – reaching all the way to the end of November – God calls us to live ordinarily in an extraordinary way:  as God’s beloved who gladly make His love known in our daily words and deeds.

So, whether or not these months are extraordinary for us in terms of vacations or transitions in work or school, we continue to gather regularly as a community of faith, paying attention to what God is saying to us together.  We continue to recommit ourselves, week by week, to inviting the Holy Spirit to take us ordinary people and make us together something extraordinary:  the Body of Christ that – confident in God’s love for His creation – joyfully does God’s work in the world.

Please come explore with us what Christ Jesus is already doing in our Parish, Montclair and beyond.  Come enjoy our community of faith, hope and love.  Come deepen – with your own divine gifts and calling – the common life and work that God has given us, so that we can be truly the Body of Christ on earth !

                                      Faithfully,

                                      The Rev. John Perris, Rector
