Profile: The Reverend Michael Wyckoff

"Father Mike" [Michael] Wyckoff was called to be the third rector of St. Luke's in the summer of 2004. Previously, he served churches as Rector (Senior Pastor) in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Temple, Texas. He started his ministry as Associate Rector of Good Shepherd in Austin, Texas, after graduating from the Virginia Theological Seminary.

Father Mike is committed to the Great Commission given by Jesus in Matthew 28:19,"...go forth therefore and make all nations my disciples..." He believes the local parish is the most effective avenue for this evangelism, and wishes to build on St. Luke's vision of becoming "a community in Christ and Christ to the world." As the Rector, he is the primary preacher of our parish.  He also teaches in-depth courses on Scripture on Sunday mornings.

Michael and his wife, Martha, have a daughter in college and a son in high school.  A fifth member of the family is an English Springer Spaniel, Simeon, named after Michael's hero, the 18th-century priest Charles Simeon of Cambridge. Michael enjoys reading, golf, following his beloved Houston Astros, and watching his children's activities.
