Funerals The Catholic Funeral Rites are celebrations that enable the Christian community to mourn, as well as to hope, by focusing on the mystery of the death and resurrection of Christ. Christians celebrate funerals to offer worship, praise, and thanksgiving to God for the gift of life which has now been returned to God, the author of life and the hope of the just. Upon the loss of a loved one, grieving families first meet with the funeral director, and then with Mary Lou Beers, or another member of our pastoral staff, to plan their funeral. Please contact Fr. Steve Breck for information on the preparation and celebration of the Sacrament of Marriage. Weddings are sacred, wonderful celebrations where the love a couple privately shares is affirmed and supported by their family and our whole community. Engaged couples should contact their presider (priest or deacon) prior to finalizing their wedding date. In the Nuptial Blessing, we pray: “O God, who by your mighty power created all things out of nothing, and, when you had set in place the beginnings of the universe, formed man and woman in your own image, making the woman an inseparable helpmate to the man, that they might no longer be two, but one flesh, and taught that what you were pleased to make one must never be divided…” St. Mary Magdalene's Director of Liturgy and Music is Mary Hrich, who will help with the planning process. Prayer Requests & Mass Intentions To make a prayer request or to have a Mass said, please contact the parish office at (440) 943-2133.			Posture & Participation We take the Orans Prayer Posture, that is praying with ones hands held out in a "sign of surrender" during the Lord's Prayer during Mass. During Eucharistic Liturgies, we remain standing after the Lamb of God until the entire assembly has received Communion. When receiving Communion we bow our head before receiving the Bread and we bow our head before receiving Communion from the cup.
Hearing Aid Devices If you have a hard time hearing at Mass, personal hearing aid (PA Devices that work in our chuch) are available for anyone to use during Mass. St. Mary Magdalene provides earbuds for your personal use, that you keep and bring back each week. The earbuds plug into a PA unit, which is signed out prior to the start of Mass and returned at the conclusion of Mass. Please see a member of the music ministry to sign out the equipment. A credit card or state issue ID is required to borrow the equipment.			Incense Incense, used at Mass during the season of advent, with its sweet-smelling perfume and high-ascending smoke, is typical of a good Christian’s prayer, which, enkindled in the heart by the fire of God’s love and exhaling the odor of Christ, rises up a pleasing offering in his sight. (From the Catholic Encyclopedia). Only non-choking, non-allergenic incense is used at SMM. Still, some may find it disagreeable.
