Bach, Mozart and Brahms
Great music in the manner of the piano and harpsichord quartet, by three great German masters:
- Bach: Concerto for Harpsichord in D
- Mozart: Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (one of music's hit singles!)
- Brahms: Piano Quartet in G, Opus 25, along with his Piano Quintet, the two greatest works of the Romantic period of chamber music

Music Featuring the Clarinet
Our first half is contemporary: Bartok's Contrasts for piano, violin and clarinet, originally conceived for Benny Goodman, and our own Anthony Newman's Chamber Concerto in its first American performance. The work was commissioned by the Barcelona Festival, and made its premiere last year to great critical acclaim.
Our second half includes Bach's Sonata for Flute in E, and Mozart's Piano Trio with violin and clarinet.

Season Finale
Our finale, using chamber orchestra, and featuring Haydn's ever popular Concerto for Harpsichord in D, Mozart's Symphony #33 in B flat, and his Violin Concerto in G, played by one of our favorite violinists, Yoon Kwon.

Anthony Newman, Music Director
At the forefront of Baroque music in the United States for more than 35 years, Anthony Newman is best known as an organist and a harpsichordist, and especially for his interpretations of the works of Bach. As keyboard artist, he has performed throughout the world — more than 70 solo appearances at Lincoln Center alone — and collaborated with many great artists, including Kathleen Battle, Itzhak Perlman, Jean-Pierre Rampal, James Levine, Lorin Mazel, John Nelson, and Leonard Bernstein. Ranked with the top Baroque and Classical specialist conductors, Mr. Newman has guest-conducted many of the world’s preeminent chamber orchestras. A prolific composer, Mr. Newman’s works have been heard in New York, Paris, Vienna, Budapest, Krakow, Warsaw, Singapore, and London.
Born in Los Angeles, Dr. Newman studied in Paris with Alfred Cortot and Pierre Cochereau, organist of Notre Dame Cathedral. In 1969, he became the youngest full-time faculty member at the Juilliard School and later headed up the graduate music program at Purchase College, State University of New York. Mr. Newman is Music Director of BachWorks, New York City’s only all-Bach organization, and of the Bedford Chamber Concerts. He is Music Director and organist at St. Matthew’s Church, Bedford.
