Prayer Shawl & Quilt Ministry

"Shawls . . . made for centuries, universal and embracing, symbolic of an inclusive unconditionally loving God. They wrap, enfold, comfort, cover, give solace, mother, hug, shelter and beautify. Those who have received these shawls have been uplifted and affirmed...."        Janet Bristow, 1998, co-founder, with Victoria Galo, of the Prayer Shawl Ministry.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

In January of 2008, we began our Prayer Shawl & Quilt Ministry.  Created with love and prayers, these creations are given as a ‘gift of love’ to people who need a little extra comfort, warmth and healing at a difficult time in their life, as well as on joyous occasions like baptisms!  All shawls, quilts, and lap blankets are blessed by The Rector at a worship service.  This enables parishioners to participate in offering love and support to recipients.

To all those who enjoy knitting, crocheting, or quilting and those who would like to learn!   A gathering is held every Tuesday from 12:30-2:30,  in the Church Library.

Bring a ‘brown bag lunch’ if you wish. Bring any project that you are working on, and plan to enjoy casual conversation as we do needlework together and build friendships. For those who would like to learn, someone will be glad to teach you. There is no obligation to attend every Tuesday, or to stay for two hours. Come when you can.

We welcome all knitters and quilters as well as those who want to learn to join this ministry. Please contact the Church Office for more information (239) 472-2173.
