The purpose of the Pastoral Care Desk at St. Michael the Archangel Church is to reach out to people in the name of Christ. We receive calls daily requesting assistance. We proactively call the sick and the elderly of our parish each week. We listen to the needs of parishioners, as well as others in the community, and direct them to appropriate parish ministries, as well as other outreach agencies. The Pastoral Care Desk is an essential ministry at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.
The Pastoral Care Desk can connects those in need with our priests and other pastoral care ministries such as:
- Homebound Eucharist
- Meals in Need
- Distribution of Eucharist at Rex Hospital
- Distribution of Eucharist to Cary rest homes.
- Volunteer Caregivers
- Elizabeth Ministry
- Prayer Blankets Ministry
- Prayers of the Faithful
The Pastoral care Desk can connect Parishioners and non parishioners to other community resources as well.
The Pastoral Desk can help you shine a light on the world!
You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden.
Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lamp stand, where it gives light to all in the house.
Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father. (Matthew6:15-16)
Type of work done by member:
- Volunteer Caller: Makes telephone contact with our sick, elderly and homebound.
- Pastoral Care Desk Volunteer: Handles incoming calls and directs parishioners and non-parishioners to ministries and out reach programs.
Meetings are held every three months or as needed. Training sessions are usually held on a needs basis.
