As a member of Christ’s servant community, St. Michael the Archangel is a participating congregation  with The Center for Volunteer Caregiving.  St Michael Interfaith Volunteers serve with other Wake County faith congregations and service partners  to answer calls for help from disabled and elderly neighbors.  Frequent requests for help are received by the parish Pastoral Care Ministry,  The Center for Volunteer Caregiving or as referrals from social service agencies.

If you are disabled, frail, recovering from illness and need help with:

  • Transportation to medical appointments
  • Grocery / errand escort or assistance
  • Friendly visits
  • Friendly phone calls
  • Light housekeeping
  • Minor home repair
  • Respite for family caregiver
  • Paper / bill sorting

Although help is dependent on available volunteers, call:

  • St. Michael Pastoral Care Ministry 468-6142
  • Or Interfaith Volunteer Coordinator: Vi McKnight (919) 319-9694
  • Or The Center for Volunteer Caregiving: 460-0567

If you wish to become a volunteer:

To enroll as an Interfaith Volunteer, call the coordinator or the CVC.

A monthly workshop for adults interested in volunteering is offered by The Center for Volunteer Caregiving.

A non profit coalition of Wake County churches and service organizations.

Volunteers select the tasks and time available for helping a neighboring care receiver.

Upon completion of the workshop and reference screening, volunteers are bonded, insured and enrolled in their parish volunteer organization.
