Welcome Letter to Parents and Students
Dear Students and Parents,
By now, it's possible, you may have heard,
of my use of poetry to send folks word
of what's going on in class and out.
It's a love of mine (like eating kielbasi and sauerkraut!).
So here's my attempt to start the year,
with a bit of news that you should hear.
It's my fifteenth year back in front of a class
(after six years working in arts administration had passed).
For me as a parent, it’s a year that’s quite full,
as my younger child starts her sophomore year at Jordan High School.
My twenty-three year-old daughter is also living locally, you see,
as she completes a graduate program in urban planning at UNC.
Personally, I'm looking forward to another year of fun,
with loads of learning, just like the last one.
What follows is information for you to read,
Sign, detach, and return—now there’s a good deed.
And remember, if questions you have, I'll never groan
if you leave a message at (919) 967-6707, that’s my school phone.
My e-mail (if that's the method you prefer)
is ndekle@st-thomasmore.org, and to it I regularly refer.
I look forward to getting to know all of you
(students, yes, but parents too)!
Mrs. Dekle
