6th Grade Math and Earth Science

Charles Sneed

Welcome to 6th Grade Math and Earth Science! Please note a few helpful hints for a successful and fun filled year.

  1. Both the math and science calendar is updated on weekly basis. You can check the calendar every Monday morning to see the planned assignments for that week.  Just be aware that sometimes assignments do change!  If a published assignment does change, the students will be told of the change and the change noted on the website the day of the change.
  2. I will be available Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 7:30 for extra math help.  I will also be available several afternoons for help until 3:05.  I will publish those days as soon as school dismissal duties are announced.
  3. Grading in both science and math is on a point basis. A student’s numerical grade is calculated as the number of points the student earned divided by the total number of points possible. That ratio is then converted to a percentage by multiplying by 100. Points are earned from homework, quizzes, and tests.
  4. Homework must be done neatly in pencil according to my specifications.
  5. Studying both math and science is essential in earning a good grade. Studying for math tests is a new concept to many students in the 6th grade, but is necessary to insure a good performance on tests.
