One important focus for the 4th graders in music class this year is preparing for their visit to the North Carolina Symphony.
We will go to Meymandi Concert Hall in Raleigh on May 5, 2011, to hear the school educational concert. The focus at this year's concert is "What Makes Music Music."
As part of the preparation for this concert, we study composers from around the world and the musical concepts that are featured in their music. These concepts include melody, harmony, tempo, dynamics, texture and form. We will also prepare to play our recorders at the Symphony Concert. We are preparing "De Colores" on the recorders with some percussion instruments also.
