Ray Tiemann, Bishop – 67,902 baptized members – 173 congregations, including five missions and two Synodically Authorized Worshipping Communities.

Mission Statement Southwestern Texas Synod is United in Christ, Diverse in People, Called by the Spirit, Equipping the people of God to be Instruments of God’s Love.

The synod’s Ministry Focus through 2012 is Forming Faithfulness – in Leaders, with Congregations, among Partners!

The office of the synod is located on the campus of Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, with whom the synod enjoys a wonderful partnership. We continue to work on several areas of emphasis:

Ministry with Latinos – With strong outreach in Eagle Pass, Laredo, and the Rio Grande Valley, we continue to grow this ministry to better reflect the significant presence of Latinos in our communities.

Youth and Family Ministry – We have Co-Directors of this synod ministry in Heather Hansen and Whitney Myers, experienced youth ministers who serve together in a half-time position for the synod’s ministry with youth.

Synodical Grants – Both through our Mission and Ministry Fund Endowment and the “Vision Projects” portion of our budget, funds are provided for ministries to expand their effectiveness and outreach.
