The Program
Stockade: (Grades 2-5) Brigade is an interdenominational program for boys involving games, crafts, leadership training. With a motto of "bright and keen for Christ", each boy learns what it means to carry the Light of the Gospel to a world in darkness.
Battalion: TCC Christian Service Brigade (CSB) Battalion unit, is now entering it's third year. Battalion is the CSB program for 6th to 12th grade boys. The first year was one of learning the program and we saw 3-4 boys attend. Last year we had 8-9 boys as we have combined Battalion with Jr. High Boys D group (Bible study), since both programs are so similar in nature. Battalion/D Group is a mentoring program for boys to spend time with Christian men. Last year, and through the summer, we are undertaking a challenging program of building a canoe, studying the Life of David (what it really means to Be a man after God's own Heart) and bonding over wiffle ball, floor hockey and other other games. The goal is to challenge the boys, teach them sound biblical life principals, how to be a community of supporting each other and to help connect them with men and others in the church. The boys are bonding together wonderfully. We have had great sharing times, the boys are learning to help each other and pray for each other. Along the way we will get the canoe built, which will be donated to the church. Pray for the boys and leaders as we work through the every day real issues these boys face. If any man has an interest to come, even on a one time basis to share a skill or testimony with the boys let us know . It's a high-energy ministry, but these boys face all kinds of challenges everyday in school and life and need a place to talk this out. In Christ, Bill Coolbaugh & Todd Henry.
Meetings
Stockade meets at TCC on Wednesday nights starting at 7:00 p.m. commencing with registration mid-September. We encourage the boys to arrive promptly.
Meetings will end on-time at 8:30 p.m.; so please be prompt in picking up your son.
Meetings will follow the Wayland Public School schedule. If school is closed for a holiday or inclement weather, there will be no Stockade meeting. A calendar of scheduled meetings will be issued on registration night.
Meetings are active involving games and projects so boys should dress accordingly. Boys are expected to wear their uniform shirt, bring their achievement book, as discussed below, and Bible to each regular meeting.
Registration Costs
Dues for boys new to Stockade are complimentary. Annual dues for all returning Stockaders are $30.
The boys will be working from an achievement book, Builder Trails (Grades 2-3) and Sentinel Trails (Grades 4-5), which must be purchased by each boy ($10). Boys are encouraged to work through the books outside of the meetings. We recognize fully that many boys have very active schedules and may have difficulties in finding the time to do this. It is our objective, however, for Stockade to be an experience which the boys enjoy and look forward to each week. Accordingly, we feel it is fully appropriate for each boy to set his own pace.
Uniform shirts are required and are priced at $20. (includes unit insignia)
Please make all checks payable to Trinitarian Congregational Church. If the cost of the above, or any future activity, is prohibitive, please call Dan Forte (508-358-6605) for alternative arrangements.
