Dear Pastors Jim and Lou,
I’m not a great letter writer nor am I very good at putting what I want to say into words, but I will try. Here goes!
First I want to say that all Praise and Glory goes to our heavenly Father first and foremost. It was only through Him that we were brought together with some truly saintly people that belong to your congregation.
These loving, caring and unselfish people came into our lives just when we had no where to turn. We prayed to God to send us some help, and He did in a very large, special way. There was no way that my wife and I could have accomplished what they did for us alone.
I suffered a hemorrhagic stroke on Dec. 7, 2004, and praise God I’m doing remarkably well. I still have some deficits on the right side of my body, but with your prayers I’ll get better. I thank God for the feeling and movement that I do have. God could leave me just the way I am and I’ll be grateful.
Enough said about me. I want to thank God for sending me my beautiful and understanding wife of 37 years. She is my confidant and best friend. We don’t have any kids, but have a host of nieces and nephews.
I want to say thank you, thank you, thank you for coming into our lives and showing us that people do care. Bless you all, bless you all. Now a word from Audrey (smile).
My husband has said it all. What we experienced with these special people was the love of Christ. It was another learning experience for the both of us to see God at work through others. They are not just talking the word, but the word of God lives in them. Jesus said: “What you do to the least of them, you have done unto me.”
Just to see Amanda, Courtney and Juley work so hard and give their time to help somebody reconfirms my hope in our young people. Knowing this, you can not raise your child alone. You need Christ and the church to help you. This was unselfish love that they displayed.
For the few days we spent together we prayed, ate, and cried together. They came to New Orleans as willing workers to help somebody in need. Their spirit of love will always be in our hearts and home. When I think about all of them I think about Jesus!
We now have a new and loving extended family and church in our life. Please tell your congregation how they have blessed us. We will always be grateful for all of you.
May God forever bless and keep you,
Carlton and Audrey Roy
