This Sunday at TCC

Jim continues the preaching series in Mark with a message called “Life After Death.” Jesus is challenged with a stump question in Mark 12:28-27 by a group of people who believe in neither the resurrection nor the immortality of the soul. Their philosophy is much like the prevailing one in our secular culture today – what you see is what you get, and all that you get. Or, as they say on Gilligan’s Island, “you have to make the best of it, you’re here for a long, long time.” Jesus, in typical fashion, does not bite on his opponent’s test question, but instead makes His own points about what is true and what is important about the next life. It has been some time since we had a message at TCC on the afterlife, so this Sunday Jim will show us what Jesus says about it and what difference it makes in the way we live in the world we see and touch.

Estivene sons at TCC

This Sunday we will have Thierry and Handel Estivene in church with us, the 17 and 13 year old sons of our ministry partners in Haiti, Dieuseul and Magda Estivene. We are hosting them for a month, and this is one of two Sundays we will see them around because of their camp schedules. They will be interested in meeting our teenagers, so please encourage yours to introduce themselves. Thierry is a full partner with his mom and dad in the work of the two churches, schools and feeding programs we are helping support, and has brought several pictures of construction progress on the vocational school and church in Delmas that we raised money for last winter. He will give us an update.

Deacons Funds Low

Our Deacons Fund is willing to help send the Estivene boys to camp but is unusually low at present due to heavy activity since the Spring. If you would like to make a contribution to the Deacons Fund, you may place a check in the offering, clearly noting "Deacons Fund." Approximately $2000 is still needed to send the boys to camp this summer.

Students to Return from the DR Monday

Five students with ties to TCC will be returning from the Dominican Republic this Monday after spending their time serving along side of Karen and Bill Rumple of Grace and Peace Mission. Matthew Antonell and Andy Garry have been in the Dominican Republic for the months of June and July, while Nicole Barrett, Morgan Fay, and Traci Todd joined them at the end of June.  Please keep all of these students in prayer as they travel home. We look forward to hearing a report from them about their time and work in the DR at church sometime in the next few weeks.

Teen Camp

Now is the time to sign up for Teen Camp 08! Middle School and High School students will be spending a week in New Hampshire enjoying the beautiful outdoors, canoeing, swimming, games, music, skits, sharing, and fun. The theme for the week comes out of the book of Jonah. We will be studying how our every day actions reflect what we really believe inside. Come make some great friends, get to know old friends better, and explore God's word! It is sure to be a relaxing, fun, and filling week. August 3-8, 2008. Contact Kelly to register.

Teen Camp Nurse Still Needed

Youth Ministries is still looking for a nurse for Teen Camp, Aug 3-8. Come, enjoy some time in beautiful Rindge, NH, and hang out with our teens and youth staff. If you are available all, or part of the week, and are interested, please contact Kelly Ladd Bishop for more info. We'd love to have you along! kelly@tccwayland.org or x401

Children’s Ministry 2008-09

The mission of Children’s Ministries is to partner with parents as they shepherd their children to become disciples of Jesus.   We envision this to be a year of growth.  This past year, we have grown and we anticipate that even more new families will join us.  We must continue to stay true to our primary calling and make sure that each child will grow spiritually.  To ensure that this occurs, we must have adequate staff.

We need 38 workers each week to care for and shepherd our children.  The only prerequisite is that you must love God and children.  There options to work at the either Worship Hour with infants, preschoolers, and elementary age children. You could volunteer once a month or serve every week.  If you have questions or would like to sign up, please call Gail at the church office x 208 or gailh@tccwayland.org.

We believe that God will "do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen."   Ephesians 3:20-21    We are asking you to pray to see if He plans on using you to welcome families and share His love and message with next generation.
