The School Foundation's First Executive Director Article
The School Foundation's First Executive Director
A Florence native, Debbie has ample quantities of the main requirements for this job - energy and passion for public education. She has voluntarily worked within both public and private schools for years, leading or volunteering with fundraising groups and APTs of Royall, West Florence, Sneed, Trinity and All Saints. She and her husband, Danny, have been strong supporters of The School Foundation since it began, and Debbie this past year organized and produced the Allie Brooks video shown at the Foundation's gala.

Her involvement with local groups through the years is extensive, and she currently is co-chair of the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce's Building Bridges Cultural Diversity Planning Committee and chairman of this February's Awesome Auction Spectacular. She also was chief operating officer of the Pee Dee Pride for its last two years, where she brought incredible energy and creativity.

Debbie's formal training is in Medical Technology, and she was a microbiology supervisor at McLeod Regional Medical Center until 1991, a job which involved managing the daily operations of the Microbiology Laboratory and some teaching.
Donations supporting Florence School District 1 can be made online at the foundation's Web site, www.theschoolfoundation.org, or by mailing to the foundation, 320 W. Cheves Street, Suite 171, Florence, SC 29501. For more information, call (843) 662-9996.
