Micah Ecumenical Ministries

Trinity was a founding member church and provided the first facilities for Micah which is a local not-for-profit organized by downtown congregations to help with the unmet needs of the homeless in the community.  Micah helps those with disabilities, unmedicated mental illnesses, or other needs to find housing, prepare resumes, provide certain job skills, etc.  In addition to financial and volunteer support for Micah, Trinity offers the use of our facilities for breakfast each Friday.  We encourage members to offer excess furniture to Micah’s furniture bank which helps those in need set up an apartment.  Members of Trinity also help staff the Cold Weather Shelter. Tuesday Night Outreach

Every other week 35-45 families receive food at the Tuesday Night Outreach program on the first and third Tuesdays of each month.  Trinity volunteers shop for food at the area food bank, bag the groceries, interview clients, and carry the bags of food to the cars of those needing help.  People with a cut-off notice for utilities or an eviction notice can receive a small amount toward the debt once every six months.  Other volunteers enter data into the regional food bank system to keep track of the food needs in our geographic area. Trinity members generously donate food and money to fund the program.

Christmas Outreach

Each year Trinity adopts about twelve families to provide Christmas gifts to children and a complete turkey dinner to each family.

Thanksgiving Turkey Fund

Each year Trinity collects funds to provide groceries for a complete Thanksgiving dinner for about 60 families.

School Dressing Days

Trinity participates in the Interfaith Community Council’s School Dressing Days to provide clothes, back packs, and school supplies to needy children in the Fredericksburg area.

El Hogar

For more than 30 years Trinity has collected a special offering to support students at El Hogar School which helps to transform and empower abandoned and hopelessly poor children in Honduras by providing a loving home and education.

Rise Against Hunger

Formerly known as Stop Hunger Now, this is an opportunity to pack dry ingredients for individual nutritious meals that can be easily shipped.  The Rise Against Hunger meal packing event that was held at Trinity on June 15, 2018, generated 285,120 meals, which were shipped to Nicaragua for their partner ORPHANetwork.  Thank you to all the volunteers who turned out for this event.
