GEMS article

The Trinity GEMS – Grateful Enthusiastic Motivated Seniors – began in 2014.  Recognizing that older members of Trinity might be an under-served population, the organization provides fellowship and social activities, usually at a monthly luncheon the second Wednesday of each month following the noon Eucharist. We use the term “self-identified senior” rather than setting an age limit, and usual attendance is 40-50.

Activities are designed with the needs of the group in mind; several have mobility issues requiring a cane, walker, or a wheel chair, and some members have memory difficulties. Some no longer drive, so we make sure everyone has a ride when we go on an out-of-town trip. The GEMS have adopted as a service project bringing new or gently used supplies to help Micah-sponsored citizens move into apartments.

The Grateful Enthusiastic Motivated Seniors of Trinity remain grateful, enthusiastic and motivated by the generosity of the Vestry and the support of Trinitarians.
