Leo Mooney's Biography

 Leo is a life-long Missourian, born in St. Louis but raised in Salem, Missouri until age 12 when the family moved back to St. Louis. He is a 1965 graduate of O’Fallon Technical High School (now Gateway Technical) located in west St. Louis City. He is a 1968 graduate of International Bible College, a small college with a world missions’ emphasis located in San Antonio, Texas. Upon graduation, he enlisted with the United States Air Force where he served as a Communications Specialist and Air Traffic Controller from 1969-1973.

 Upon his honorable separation from the military he reentered college receiving an Associate Degree from St. Louis Community College at Meramec in Business in 1980 and another in Communications in 1981. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in 1983 from St. Louis University graduating Magna Cum Laude. Upon graduation he was appointed Business Representative of the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) where he served for 18 years, retiring early at age 55 on June 1, 2002. Over the past 15 years he has coached girls basketball at various levels, first at Twin Oaks Christian School (elementary) and later at Westminster Christian Academy (high school) and Ritenour High School.

 Leo has served continuously on the Twin Oaks’ (TOPC) World Missions Committee in various roles since 1992 and has led numerous short-term missions teams. In 2002 he began serving at TOPC as a Ruling Elder. In 2005 he began his current role as the Director of World Missions, coordinating and overseeing the ministry. His duties keep him in regular contact with over 30-plus supported missionaries and missions’ agencies world wide. In support of the TOPC missions’ ministry, he has traveled to Russia, Bulgaria, Kenya, South Africa, Mexico, Peru and Ecuador. He currently serves on Committee to Mission to the World, the Missouri Presbytery World Missions Committee, the Northern Mexico Church Planting Network Advisory Team and the Behind The Scenes Media Ministry.

 Leo and his wife Tina have been married for 28 years and have three children (Dionne, Marc and Whitney). Tina has served at St. Claire Hospital (formerly St. Joseph Hospital) in Fenton, Missouri for 24 years as an RN and now as a Nurse Practitioner in the Heart Unit.
